TORONTO — The venue plan for the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games has undergone a major revision.

Venues for the event will now be built in eight clusters, a move TO2015 organizers say will cut costs and organizational headaches, while making the Games more enjoyable for athletes and fans.

"We will be able to maximize the Games experience while responsibly managing costs," TO2015 CEO Ian Troop said on a conference call Friday.

Troop wouldn't specify what sport venues would be clustered together, or where precisely the clusters would be located.

Building venues in clusters is common at major athletics events -- London's Olympic Park, for example, will host eight different sports at this summer's Games.

Troop said clustering venues will streamline operating costs and planning for everything from transportation and security to food services and temporary stands.
